Is it Real that JAMB Prohibits Taking Some Items to Exams Venue?

I’ve got some calls from candidates asking this question.

The answer is yes, it’s real.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has made it clear that they must disallow these items from being taken into the venue to prevent the likely exams malpractices that may ensure therefrom

20 Disallowed Items at JAMB CBT Venue/Centre?

The board has enlisted the items candidates must not be found with during the exams in order ensure that her examinations meet best global practices.

The board has prohibited the use of the following items during its exams:

  1. Watches
  2. pens or biros
  3. mobile phones or similar electronic devices
  4. spy reading glasses
  5. calculators
  6. hard disks or similar storage devices
  7. books or any reading material
  8. cameras
  9. recorders
  10. microphones.
  11. ear pieces, ink or pen readers,
  12. mart lenses
  13. smart rings or jewellery
  14. smart buttons
  15. bluetooth devices
  16. key holders
  17. erasers
  18. Automated Teller Machine cards
  19. Wallet or Purse
  20. Mathematical set

What Candidates should do If in Possession of these Items at the Venue

  • Consider safe keeping your possessions with appropriate personnel at the centre if any.
  • Don’t give your things to just anybody you don’t know
  • You can keep your things with a friend (from home) who has written his or her exams before yours or who schedule to write after yours.
  • Where possible, don’t come to venue with any item.

 Not Disallowed at the Centre

  1. Cash or money
  2. JAMB exams schedule slip
  3. Handkerchief
  4. Ijab, Islamic veil or head ties
  5. Medicine, pills or drugs

Important Notice

If you’re in possession of items prohibited above at the centre and before the exams start, you may just be asked not to take it in. If however, you’re caught with any of the items while you’re already in the hall, you will be discontinued from writing your exams and sent away.
